Newspaper Mention of my Roxcy Bolton Research

Great to see a newspaper mention of my research about Roxcy Bolton, a Florida icon.

From the article:
“Many of Roxcy’s missions in advocacy began with a phone call to her home in Coral Gables. One time, the woman on the other end of the receiver had been arrested for indecent exposure for breastfeeding her baby in a Miami park. Roxcy hung up and immediately called Attorney General Bob Shevin in Tallahassee, insisting that he be pulled out of a meeting because of an emergency.

When he answered the phone, she calmly asked, “Did your mother breastfeed you?”

Roxcy had the charges dropped in no time. As for the park, it’s now named the Women’s Park and dedicated to all the diverse contributions women have made to improve the quality of life in Miami-Dade County, according to the article “Roxcy Bolton: Tireless Feminist Organizer,” by Kimberly Wilmot Voss.”
