Death of Roxcy Bolton
I was sad to read about the death of Roxcy Bolton who worked closely with Miami Herald women’s page editor Marie Anderson. Here is her NYT obituary. I wrote about Roxcy for the Ms Magazine blog and We’re History. I also presented a paper about Bolton at the meeting of the Florida Historical Society.

Great to see a newspaper mention of my research about Roxcy Bolton, a Florida icon. From the article:“Many of Roxcy’s missions in advocacy began with a phone call to her home in Coral Gables. One time, the woman on the other end of the receiver had been arrested for indecent exposure for breastfeeding her baby in a Miami park. Roxcy hung up and immediately called Attorney General Bob Shevin in Tallahassee, insisting that he be pulled out of a meeting because of an emergency. Roxcy was a good friend of Marie Anderson, the longtime and award-winning women’s page editor of the Miami Herald.
