I have been researching Miami women’s page journalist Kay Murphy. I found a scholarship is given in her name – as recently as 2017. Here is information about it:“Kay Murphy Price Scholarship: Kay Murphy Price was a Scripps alum who had a 33-year career as a feature writer with the Columbus Dispatch and Miami Herald. She was also an artist, winning awards for her poetry, and gourmet cooking, and dabbling with a paint brush. 2018 Florida Historical Society Meeting
The dates and location for the 2018 Florida Historical Society Meeting have been announced. I plan to speak about the women’s pages of the Miami Herald – including Marie Anderson, Dorothy Jurney, Jeanne Voltz, Marjorie Paxson and Eleanor Hart.

Media Report To Women: Marjorie Paxson & the Lack of Institutional Memory
Women’s page editor turned publisher Marjorie Paxson was largely overlooked when she died in June. I am filling that void by writing about her life and the problem of a lack of institutional memory by publishing this essay in the summer issue of the Media Report To Women. Paxson was one of six women featured in my book, Women Politicking Politely.

Food Columnist Virginia Voigt Roeder Cobb
I have been researching Virginia Voigt Roeder Cobb who had been a food columnist with the Baltimore Sun. This image is from a cookbook which came from the columns. She will be included in my upcoming women’s page editors book. My wonderful ILL folks tracked down her 1959 dissertation from Johns Hopkins University. It’s interesting that she studied the impact of working mothers when she was the mother of four children.
