Edee Greene’s daughter
Today I am interviewing the daughter of Fort Lauderdale New women’s page editor Edee Greene. I am looking forward to filling in some gaps in Edee’s career.

Beverley Morales’s daughter
Yesterday I received the death certificate of Beverley Morales’ daughter Maria Morales. The toddler drowned in the family swimming pool in 1967. (Beverley was the women’s page editor of the Sun-Sentinel at the time.) I am putting together a timeline of Bevereley’s long career. In addition to being a journalist, she was an advocate for Native Americans in her home state of Montana. From the death certificate, I learned that Maria’s middle name was Helena. (Beverley was from Montana.) Following Mari’s death, Beverley moved to Ohio and became a women’s page editor at a Dayton newspaper.

New Marie Willard Anderson image
Over the weekend, I heard from a distant relative of Miami Herald women’s page editor Marie Anderson. He had several photos of Anderson’s mother, Marie Willard Anderson. This one was taken in 1908.

Helen Muir image
I just found this image of Miami journalist Helen Muir. (It’s in the Florida Photographic Collection.) I learned last week that Helen was Dorothy Jurney’s initial boss in the women’s at the Miami News before she left for Washington. Helen held an annual party for Dorothy after she left for Detroit. I am working on a revise and resubmit of Dorothy’s career. I plan to go through the papers of Helen Muir at the University of Miami in the future. Here is a link about her papers.

Eleanor Hart in photo
I just noticed that women’s page columnist Eleanor Hart is in this photo of the Miami Herald newsroom. That’s her standing near the filing cabinet. (The photo is at the WHMC. In Dorothy Jurney’s papers.) We went through Eleanor’s 1950s and 1960s columns at a Miami archive a few weeks ago.
