I recently found some great tributes to colorful food editor Rosa Tusa. Above is from the Palm Beach Post where she worked in the 1970s. Here is a link to a tribute to Rosa. She was the food editor at the Milwaukee Sentinel in the 1960s.

Jeanne Voltz & the Southern Foodways Alliance
Last week I joined the Southern Foodways Alliance in honor of newspaper food editor Jeanne Voltz. Here is information about Jeanne Voltz’s role in the organization:“The Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi agreed to act as the incubator of the SFA and provided start-up capital, earned from sale of the Center-researched and written cookbook, A Gracious Plenty: Recipes and Recollections from the American South. FCA Talk: The Food Section
I had a great time at the Florida Communication Association Conference on Saturday talking about the Florida food editors from The Food Section, as well as a few new food editors who I have discovered. Tomorrow I am speaking about Florida food editors at the Florida Communication Association Conference. Here is a segment of the paper: Jeanne Voltz was the food editor at the Miami Herald during the 1950s. She earned a journalism degree from what is now the University of Montevallo. She worked the news beat during World War II and married a fellow journalist. She then became the food editor at the Miami Herald in the 1950s and at the Los Angeles Times in the 1960s through the early 1970s. She later became the food editor at Woman’s Day magazine.
