Reporting From Washington
I just started reading the book, Reporting From Washington. Sadly, there is no reference to Vera Glaser who was a longtime Washington reporter. (Much of her work ran in the women’s pages in the 1950s and 1960s.) She was also a columnist – writing the Offbeat Washington column. She was a great reporter – earning several scoops over the years. I went through Vera’s papers at the University of Wyoming. I presented a paper about her last Spring and am drafting an article about Vera for a future publication.

Vera Glaser article posted
The article about Vera Glaser that I presented at the Winter AJHA-AEJMC Meeting has been posted to the Hall Institute of Public Policy website. Here is a link. I am working on a longer article about Vera’s work with Catherine East. The two were a powerful partnership for women in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I have gone through Vera’s papers at the University of Wyoming and through Catherine’s papers at Harvard.

I just found this information about the 1963 American Newspaperwomen’s Club event that Vera Glaser co-hosted. The above image is from the event. Here is a link to audio of the event. Both are found at the University of Denver. I am working on a paper about women’s page political reporter Vera Glaser. I am presenting it at a conference in New York City this weekend. I went through Vera’s papers at the University of Wyoming last year.

Vera Glaser
Today I am going to be interviewing one of Vera Glser’s relatives. She was one of the first journalists to cover the women’s movement. Her political columns often ran in the women’s pages. I went through her papers at the University of Wyoming. I am presenting a paper about Vera in March.
