Julie and Julia

We went to see the movie, Julie and Julia, yesterday. (The movie was much better than the book.) This 1978 image of Julia Child is from the Chicago Tribune photo archives. Here is the story.

Food editor Jeanne Voltz (of the Miami Herald and then Los Angeles Times women’s pages) must have known Julia – they traveled in the same circles, including being friends with James Beard.

I recently wrote a book chapter about Jeanne and I am continuing to study food journalism.
