Jim Bellows dies
I was so sad to learn yesterday that Jim Bellows had died. Here’s a link to one of several obits. Jim was a great editor. A great champion for the underdog. An advocate and mentor for women journalists. He was married to women’s page journalist Maggie Savoy until her death in 1970. He made a real difference. I interviewed him a few years ago about Maggie. Here’s a link to an obit that mentions Maggie.

On Saturday I am flying to Dallas for the day to be interviewed about Dallas women’s page editor Vivian Castleberry for a documentary. I wrote an article about Vivian for the Southwest Historical Quarterly and visited her last summer. I am going over my notes about Vivian.

Today I heard from the woman who is making a documentary about Dallas woman’s page journalist Vivian Castleberry. I am flying out to Dallas to be interviewed for the documentary next weekend.

New Marie Willard Anderson image
Over the weekend, I heard from a distant relative of Miami Herald women’s page editor Marie Anderson. He had several photos of Anderson’s mother, Marie Willard Anderson. This one was taken in 1908.
